jobs to china. here's president obama in ohio today. >> you've got folks who work at the jeep plant who have been calling their employers worried asking if their jobs were being shipped to china. you've heard about this. everybody heard about this? and the reason they're worried is because governor romney is running ads saying that jeep is shipping jobs to china. there's only one problem. it's not true. >> it's just not ohio where president obama is surging. in 22 new polls of battleground states, the president leads in 19 of them. the obama campaign is taking nothing for granted, however, and today joe biden put the romney campaign into perspective. >> i want to remind you, this is the end of daylight saving time tonight. it's mitt romney's favorite time of the year because he gets to turn the clock back. he wants to turn that clock back so desperately. this time he can really do it tonight, it happens. >> in between all this hectic campaigning, president obama visited fema for an update on storm r

. >> kim, governor romney does not have a full-time job right now. the president does. what do you do? i mean, you're here. you overcampaign, you could look crass and out of touch. this is, i would say, a trickier situation. the president's got something to do. mitt romney does not. >> you campaign sensitively. i don't think you give up the days. i think you campaign sensitively. i think he's caught the right tone on the campaign trail. you know, this is going to impact greatly, in ohio and some of those states out there, you can keep an eye on what's going on with the hurricane, make sure that there's no great loss of life. i mean, so far, thank god, there's not been any incredible loss of life or drama like there was with katrina. i don't think this is going to be quite that dramatic a storm, and i don't think you hang up your cleats and just watch. i think you do what you've got to do. but you just be sensitive to it. >> dee dee, you were on bill clinton's campaign during hurricane andrew, and you were in that awkward position where you're running

mitt romney just put out his statement on the unemployment report. here is what he said. today's increase in the unemployment rate is a sad reminder that the economy is at a virtual standstill. the jobless rate is higher than it was when president obama took office. there are still 23 million americans struggling to work. on tuesday america will make a choice between stagnation and prosperity for four years. president obama's policies have crushed america's middle class for four years. president obama has told us that things are getting better and that we're making progress. obviously, he believes it is at a stand still. you look at the last two years. is this economy recovering? how do you describe the recovery after the last say two years? >> it is recovering. you know, if you look through the monthly volatility in the data we're getting about 150,000 jobs per month. so that's okay. in fact, in an economy that was with an unemployment rate of 6% we'd be pretty comfortable with that. but as has been pointed out we have a 7.9% unemployment rate. we need more job growth, s
